Get Ready for the Future of
Recycled Aggregate Certification
Change is coming to the recycled aggregate industry, and Green Compass is here to help you lead the way.
In 2022, the Environment Agency announced its intention to withdraw the WRAP Quality Protocol for Recycled Aggregate and replace it with a new Resource Framework. The draft “Aggregate from inert waste: Resource framework” is now open for public consultation.
The 12-week consultation closes on 8th January 2027, making now the time to prepare.
Once finalised, the Resource Framework will become an integral part of industry regulation. Producers of recycled aggregate from inert waste will need clear evidence of compliance to achieve end-of-waste status for their products. This will require membership of a UKAS-accredited certification scheme, and our scheme will be listed in the final published Resource Framework.
We are already acting. In anticipation of the Framework’s publication in early 2027, we have developed the Green Compass Recycled Aggregate Scheme, which we expect to be approved by the Environment Agency and accredited by UKAS in the coming weeks.
